Hello all you wonderful folks! The Finer Tech Newsletter is back this week with something for everyone.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this issue or if there’s something you’d like to see covered in the future. If you know people who would enjoy this newsletter, I’ll owe you a beverage if you share this signup link and my Patreon link.

💡 Tips
📺 Start the Apple TV screensaver whenever you want
The Apple TV screensaver can automatically start at various intervals, you can choose one in Settings > General > Screensaver. You can also manually start it at any time by pressing the Menu button when you have the top left-most app selected.
📱 Messages can auto-fill your ETA from Maps directions
If you’re following directions in Apple Maps and text someone a message like “I’ll be there in,” the keyboard suggestion bar can suggest your ETA automatically from Maps.
Two things to note here: First, this doesn’t seem to work with third-party map apps, although I don’t have Google Maps installed. Second, this feature seems bugged when I use transit instead of driving. Messages will only get “0min” from Maps when I pick transit directions.

📱 Search by lyrics in Apple Music
Apple Music for iOS has been able to display many song lyrics for a while. Recently, it gained the ability to also search by them. If you type a phrase into the search box, one of the suggested options will be “in Lyrics.”
📱💻 You can rename AirPods
If you have a penchant for naming devices or multiple AirPods, you might want to rename them. On iOS, connect them to your device and go to Settings > Bluetooth > [your AirPods], then tap the Name field to give them an identity.
⌚️ Change between visual stopwatch styles
Apple’s stopwatch app has multiple faces like analog, digital, a graph, and hybrid. Force Press on the screen to pick between them.
